When talking strategy development with clients I am sometimes confronted with the view that marketing strategy is something the marketing team looks after. A process that starts once an organisation's business strategy has been developed. I think this is fundamentally flawed - in fact your marketing strategy, developed out of your competitive advantage, is a core part of your business strategy and, if approached correctly, can be a key driver of success in the market.
