In the end it's all about execution

I came across this photo the other day and it summed up what often happens...



A business decides what their core offer is (we can repair ANYTHNG!), they communicate it (in this instance by a prominent sign on their front door) but then execution lets them down (in this instance in a very public way!).

I believe that marketing is the sum of everything we do.  At every touch point and customer interaction.  We can either build on our uniqueness or quickly undercut it

So yes spend time thinking through what makes you different – why someone would buy from you and not the person down the road. 

But just as importantly ensure you can execute...and don’t allow the little things let you down.
